- Abortion Death: Christine was 18-years old when she went to Doctors’ Surgical Center in Cypress, California for an abortion. This facility was owned by Dr. Edward Allred and was part of Family Planning Associates. Her 17th week abortion was performed by Dr. Thomas Grubbs on November 3, 1994. While Christine was getting ready to go home, she fell, but no one witnessed the fall because she was unattended at the time. Dr. Grubbs was called in to check her out after her fall, and he noticed slurred speech and inappropriate responses. An ambulance was called, and she was transferred to La Palma Hospital. She spent several hours in the Emergency Room; her friend Robert was with her, but the hospital was unable to locate Christine’s parents. When her father was finally located, Robert had to tell him not only about her hospitalization, but also about the abortion. She was transferred to ICU, where her condition continued to deteriorate. At noon on November 8, 1994, Christine was taken off of life support. Half an hour later, this high school senior was pronounced dead. Autopsy showed the cause of death to be from acute septicemia with hemorrhaging into the brain caused by the abortion. Christine left behind a 1½-year-old child.
