Abortion Death – Watley, Sheila: On December 29, 1987, 31-year-old Sheila had an abortion at Concerned Women’s Center in Houston, Texas. About four minutes into the 17th week abortion procedure, which was being done by Dr. Richard Cunningham, Sheila went into cardio-respiratory arrest. She was pronounced dead later that day. Her cause of death was an amniotic fluid embolism. She left behind one child. (Harris County (TX) District Court Case # 89-16100)

Medical malpractice lawsuit against abortionists Douglas Karpen and Richard Cunningham, filed on behalf of patient Nicolette Cormier. Abortionists refused to halt the patient's 3rd-trimester abortion procedure, even after the patient decided she did not want an abortion. The patient required emergency care at a hospital, and delivered a premature infant weighing 1 lb, 13 oz. Despite intensive medical care, the baby later died. Douglas Karpen and Richard Cunningham are sued for a forced abortion on minor Nicolette Cormier. After Nicolette changed her mind about the abortion, the doctors refused to immediately halt the abortion process, causing Nicolette to give birth prematurely to her baby Ashley Renee Cormier. Despite receiving medical care, baby Ashley died several months later. See pages 2-7.
