Taylor, Betsy -- 2019-02-11 Complaint -- Catherine Juarez v. Board of Regents of UNM, Betsy Taylor et al
Catherine Juarez sues defendants including Dr. Betsy Taylor for malpractice. Catherine was supposed to have her uterus and ovaries removed to treat PCOS issues, but the UNM doctors forgot to remove her ovaries, which was the primary reason for her surgery. Catherine continued to suffer from PCOS symptoms after the botched surgery, since her ovaries had not been removed. See pages 3-8. -

2019-06-17 Second Amended Complaint -- Juarez v. Board of Regents of UNM, Betsy Taylor et al
Plaintiff Catherine Juarez gives details on her lawsuit against defendants including Betsy Taylor. Catherine Juarez' doctor, Maxine Dorin, agreed to remove Catherine's ovaries (as well as her uterus) to alleviate her PCOS symptoms. However, Dr. Dorin did not perform the surgery as agreed. Instead, without telling Catherine, two other doctors including Betsy Taylor performed a hysterectomy and did NOT remove her ovaries at all. After the surgery, Dr. Dorin told Catherine that they "forgot" to remove her ovaries, and Catherine also found out that Dr. Taylor and another doctor had actually performed the surgery without her consent. Furthermore, Catherine states that the Operation Report was falsified to state that her ovaries were removed, and she was billed for this, despite the fact it had not been done. Besides being falsely billed, Catherine continued to suffer from PCOS symptoms since her ovaries were still intact. She also experienced new complications from the hormones she had been prescribed for her ovaries to be removed. See details on pages 5-10.
