Frederic N. Stimmell (deceased)

Synopsis: Mr. and Mrs. Lucchesi filed a lawsuit against Dr. Stimmell after he failed to attend the premature delivery of their infant son.  Although the baby was premature and in a breech position, Stimmell assigned the delivery to an intern and a resident who had no experience in delivering a breech presentation.  In attempting to deliver the infant, the resident and intern tugged on the baby's hip during delivery, resulting in decapitation to the infant, and his subsequent stillbirth.  Mr. and Mrs. Lucchesi sued the hospital and Dr. Stimmell.
