Abortionist Frederick Shields lost his medical license after years of alcohol abuse and failure to complete rehab. The alcoholic doctor fatally botched a D&C abortion on Junette Barnes on July 8, 1988, perforating her uterus and severing an artery. Junette was transported to the hospital, but the mother of four bled to death during emergency surgery. In 1991, the TX medical board cited Junette Barnes’ death in disciplining Shields for continuing alcohol dependency. Frederick S. Shields permanently surrendered his medical license, effective Oct. 5, 1991.

  Oct 4, 1991 -- Frederick S. Shields, MD, is disciplined by the Texas Medical Board after his patient "J. B." died from a botched D&C procedure on July 8, 1988. Between 1984 and 1989, Shields had exhibited symptoms of alcohol dependence. Shields failed to complete Alcoholics Anonymous treatment as directed by his therapist, and failed to stop drinking alcohol. Shields agrees to permanently surrender his TX medical license, effective Oct. 5, 1991. See pages 1-4.
