- On May 5, 2000, Kim went to Family Planning Associates in Fresno, California in order to get an abortion. The operation was performed by Dr. Kenneth L. Wright, and at some point during the procedure, Kim quit breathing. The family alleged in a lawsuit that Kimberly was not properly monitored during the abortion and proper treatment wasn’t given to her when she stopped breathing. Kimberly died on May 22, 2000.
