On Oct 20, 2005, Shamail Alexander went to the Bronx Lebanon Emergency Room for an ultrasound of her 13-week gestation pregnancy. Sadly, the hospital found no heartbeat and determined that her baby had died. The hospital referred Ms. Alexander to abortionist Dr. Benita Gross at Women's Health Center to have her uterus emptied. Dr. Gross perforated the Ms. Alexander's uterus during the procedure, and observed bowel at the tip of the suction cannula. Shamail Alexander needed surgery to repair the perforation. Ms. Alexander sued abortionist Benita Gross and the hospital as well. See pages 8, 9, & 13.
