The patient wrote that if Torres "had acted in a medically responsible way" the patient might have been able to keep her ovary and fallopian tube. She had a large left ovarian cyst and was found to have an ovarian torsion. However, Torres said that "This patient has not proceeded with a malpractice claim due to the fact that the torsion that occurred after her 2 March ultrasound may have been attributed to or at least exacerbated by her refusal of medical care." Torres argued against the allegations against her. She was not charged with malpractice.
