Plaintiff Brenda Joyce sues Dr. Lichtenberg after he fatally botched an abortion on Maria Rodriguez. Rodriquez went to the FPA clinic in Chicago, IL, for a second-trimester abortion on March 25, 2000. Lichtenberg botched the abortion and perforated Rodriguez' uterus, causing her to hemorrhage throughout the morning at the clinic. Her deteriorating vital signs were not treated properly by the doctor or clinic staff. Hours later, the clinic finally sent Maria Rodriguez to the hospital, but it was too late to save her.
