Dr. Santosh Sharma pioneered early research on clinical abortion techniques.  In the 1970’s and 80’s, she conducted a number of research projects on developing improved abortion procedures at the University of Hawaii.  Sharma was a longtime ob-gyn professor at the University of Hawaii, and also worked at the University Women’s Health Specialists at Kapiolani Medical Center.  In addition to providing general ob-gyn services, this department houses the Women’s Options Center abortion clinic, where University faculty teach abortion procedures to medical students and residents.  Sharma is now retired, and has received accolades for her donations to the University of Hawaii Medical School.
