The FL Dept of Health request disciplinary action against Jose R. Quintana after he inappropriately removed the right fallopian tube of a 29-year-old woman with and ectopic pregnancy in Nov 2000. The woman suffered severe pain and bleeding, and had to go to the ER a month later, where she underwent the removal of her left fallopian tube, thus rendering her sterile. -

The FL Dept of Health orders Jose R. Quintana to pay a $5,000 fine, perform community service, and complete 8 hours of continuing education, after charging him with violating Florida statute regarding the practice of medicine. -

Abortion still incomplete, Woman self-hospitalized and was diagnosed with septic shock, acute renal failure, sepsis, respiratory insufficiency, hypovolemic shock, peritonitis all due to a perforation of the uterus and intestine. Her baby’s cranium was found lodged in her abdominal cavity. Surgeons were forced to remove 22 inches of her bowel. -
